Mr. VARGAS introduced the following bill; which was referred to the
Committee on the Judiciary
A BILL
For the relief of Maria Cordova.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-
2 tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS FOR MARIA
CORDOVA.
(a) IN GENERAL.—Notwithstanding subsections (a)
6 and (b) of section 201 of the (Immigration and Nation-
7 ality Act), Maria Cordova shall be eligible for the issuance
8 of an immigrant visa or adjustment of status to that of
9 an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence upon

10 filing an application for issuance of an immigrant visa
11 under section 204 of such Act or for adjustment of status
12 to lawful permanent resident.

(b) ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS.—If Maria Cordova en-
2 ters the United States before the filing deadline specified
3 in subsection (c), she shall be considered to have entered
4 and remained lawfully and shall, if otherwise eligible, be
5 eligible for adjustment of status under section 245 of the
6 Immigration and Nationality Act as of the date of enact-
7 ment of this Act.
(c) WAIVERS OF GROUNDS FOR REMOVAL OR DE-
NIAL OF ADMISSION.—
(1) IN GENERAL.—Notwithstanding sections
212(a) and 237(a) of the Immigration and Nation-
ality Act, Maria Cordova may not be removed from
the United States, denied admission to the United
States, or considered ineligible for lawful permanent
residence in the United States by reason of any
ground for removal or denial of admission that is re-
flected in the records of the Department of Home-
land Security or the Visa Office of the Department
of State on the date of the enactment of this Act.
(2) RECISSION OF OUTSTANDING ORDER OF RE-
MOVAL.—The Secretary of Homeland Security shall
rescind any outstanding order of removal or deporta-
tion, or any finding of inadmissibility or deport-
kjohnson on DSK7ZCZBW3PROD with $$_JOB
ability, that has been entered against Maria Cordova
by reason of any ground described in paragraph (1).

(d) DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION AND PAYMENT OF
2 FEES.—Subsections (a) and (b) shall apply only if the ap-
3 plication of issuance of immigrant visas or the application
4 for adjustment of status is filed with the appropriate fees
5 within 2 years after the date of enactment of this Act.
(e) REDUCTION OF IMMIGRANT VISA NUMBERS.—
7 Upon the granting of immigrant visas or permanent resi-
8 dence to Maria Cordova, the Secretary of State shall in-
9 struct the proper officer to reduce by 1, during the current
10 or next following fiscal year, the total number of immi-
11 grant visas that are made available to natives of the coun-
12 try of the aliens’ birth under section 203(a) of the Immi-
13 gration and Nationality Act or, if applicable, the total
14 number of immigrant visas that are made available to na-
15 tives of the country of the aliens’ birth under section
16 202(e) of such Act.
(f) DENIAL OF PREFERENTIAL IMMIGRATION TREAT-
MENT FOR CERTAIN RELATIVES.—The natural parents,
19 brothers, and sisters of Maria Cordova shall not, by virtue
20 of such relationship, be accorded any right, privilege, or
21 status under the Immigration and Nationality Act.
