A senate RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE Nevada Stevenson ON THE OCCASION OF
HER Ninetieth BIRTHDAY AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MUCH
HAPPINESS IN THE DAYS AHEAD.
Whereas, the members of
the South Carolina Senate are pleased to learn that Nevada Stevenson will
celebrate this important milestone on September 14, 2026; and
Whereas, a native of Marion,
Ms. Stevenson was born on September 14, 1936, to parents Benjamin and Ella
Stevenson. The oldest of six children, her father was so attached to her that
he called her Love, a name that most of her friends and acquaintances call her
to this day; and
Whereas, Ms. Stevenson
had a storied career, serving as a public educator for over thirty-three years;
and
Whereas, a devout
Christian, she is a lifelong member of St. James AME Church in Marion; and
Whereas, throughout her
ninety years, Ms. Stevenson has had the opportunity to witness generations grow
and change, while contributing her own love, wisdom, strength, and presence to
those fortunate enough to know her; and
Whereas, the South
Carolina Senate takes great pleasure in honoring this daughter of South
Carolina at the celebration of her ninetieth birthday and is pleased to join
with her family and friends in congratulating her.  Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the
South Carolina Senate, by this resolution,
congratulate Nevada Stevenson on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday and
wish her a joyous birthday celebration and much happiness in the days ahead.
Be it further resolved
that a copy of this resolution be presented to Nevada Stevenson.
