A house RESOLUTION
to recognize and honor the clinton
high school baseball team, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding 2026
season, and to congratulate them for winning the class aa state baseball
championship title.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives
are proud to recognize the Clinton High School baseball team for an
extraordinary and historic 2026 season, culminating in a Class AA State
Championship; and
Whereas, the Red Devils concluded the season with a remarkable record
of thirty-one wins and three losses, capturing the District Championship, the
Upper State Championship, and the State Championship along the way; and
Whereas, this thirty-one-win season set a new school record for the
most victories in a single season in the history of Clinton High School baseball;
and
Whereas, the State Championship was won at home in dramatic fashion,
when senior Luke Young hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth
inning to secure the title for the Red Devils; and
Whereas, the CHS baseball team also set the school record for the
most home runs hit by a team in a single season, with twenty-nine total home
runs; and
Whereas, senior Luke Young was named AA Co-Player of the Year, and
during the season set new school records for home runs in a single season, with
thirteen, and home runs in a career, with sixteen; and
Whereas, senior Camden Finley was named the Laurens County Baseball
Player of the Year in recognition of his outstanding performance and leadership
throughout the season; and
Whereas, seven members of the team were named to the All-Region Team,
reflecting the depth of talent and the character of this outstanding group of
student athletes; and
Whereas, Tanner Finley, Camden Finley, and Luke Young were each named
All-State in Class AA, further affirming the statewide recognition earned by
this championship team; and
Whereas, Jaydon Glenn and Luke Young were selected to represent their
team and community in the South Carolina North/South All-Star Game; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives
value the pride and recognition that the Clinton Red Devil baseball team has
brought to their school and community and look forward to following their
future successes. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of
Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House
of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor the Clinton High
School baseball team, coaches, and school officials on an outstanding 2026
season, and to congratulate them for winning the Class AA State Baseball Championship
title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
Clinton High School Principal Martha Brothers and Head Coach Peyton Spangler.
