No. 21HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONWHEREAS, Dennis Johnson is being presented with the PermianBasin Petroleum Association's highest accolade, the Top Hand Award,at its annual banquet on January 16, 2025, at the Petroleum Club ofMidland; andWHEREAS, After earning his bachelor's degree in petroleumengineering from Texas A&M University in 1974, Mr. Johnson beganworking in engineering and management with Exxon Corporation andUnion Texas Petroleum; in 1980, he joined Henry PetroleumCorporation as vice president of drilling and production, guidingthe company through a period of growth and ultimately becomingpresident, chief operating officer, and partner; in 2007, hecofounded Summit Petroleum LLC and currently serves as its chairand chief executive officer; andWHEREAS, Mr. Johnson has contributed his time to a number oforganizations, including the Permian Basin Petroleum Association,the Texas A&M University Petroleum Industry board, and the TexasPublic Policy Foundation Life:Powered project; he has alsosupported such worthwhile causes as the Village at Manor Park,United Way, and the Summit Center; moreover, he is an active memberof First Baptist Church, the Dallas chapter of First LibertyInstitute, the 21Wilberforce Global Freedom Center, and the PermianBasin Fellowship of Christian Athletes; in recognition of his manyaccomplishments, he has received the Permian Basin PetroleumPioneers Pioneering Technology Award, the Society of PetroleumEngineers SW North America Region Service Award, and the TexasPublic Policy Foundation Sam Houston Award; he has also been named aLifetime Board Member of United Way of Midland; andWHEREAS, Mr. Johnson and his wife, Laquita, are the parentsof two children, Matt and Linsey, and they also take great pride intheir five grandchildren; andWHEREAS, Through his leadership, vision, and expertise,Dennis Johnson has earned the lasting respect of his peers in thepetroleum industry, and he is truly deserving of this prestigioushonor; now, therefore, be itRESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texashereby congratulate Dennis Johnson on his receipt of the 2024 TopHand Award from the Permian Basin Petroleum Association and extendto him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it furtherRESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution beprepared for Mr. Johnson as an expression of high regard by theTexas House of Representatives and Senate.Craddick____________________________________________________________President of the SenateSpeaker of the HouseI certify that H.C.R.
