1.2relating to education; restricting female sports team participation to the female
1.3sex; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, sections 121A.04, by adding a subdivision;
1.4128C.02, by adding a subdivision.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 121A.04, is amended by adding a subdivision
1.7to read:
1.8Subd. 4a. Preserving girls' sports. (a) This subdivision may be cited as the "Preserving
1.9Girls' Sports Act."
1.10(b) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, only female students may participate in an
1.11elementary or secondary school level athletic team or sport that an educational institution
1.12has restricted to women and girls.
1.13(c) For purposes of this section, female is the sex that was "previously limited or
1.14restricted," and "female" means a female as biologically determined by genetics and defined
1.15with respect to an individual's reproductive system. A female is defined as an individual
1.16who naturally has, had, will have, or would have, but for a congenital anomaly or intentional
1.17or unintentional disruption, the reproductive system that at some point produces, transports,
1.18and utilizes eggs for fertilization. A woman is an adult human female. A girl is a minor
1.19human female.
1.20EFFECTIVE DATE. This section is effective the day following final enactment.

2.1   Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 128C.02, is amended by adding a subdivision to
2.2 read:
2.3     Subd. 10. Girls' sports. The league must adopt league rules and policy consistent with
2.4 section 121A.04, subdivision 4a.
