No. 167R E S O L U T I O NWHEREAS, Holmes High School is hosting the NorthsideIndependent School District Council of PTAs Founders Daycelebration on February 6, 2025, providing a fitting opportunity torecognize the history of the school; andWHEREAS, The second-oldest campus in Northside ISD, HolmesHigh School opened in 1964 and was named after Oliver Wendell HolmesJr., former associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court; its 2,500students and their families are part of a diverse, hardworkingcommunity that unites to transform learning for all Huskies;notable alumni include U.S. Senator John Cornyn, StateRepresentative Trey Martinez Fischer, former NFL tight ends Keithand Kerry Cash, and musician Steve Earle; andWHEREAS, Founders Day is an opportunity to reflect on theachievements of PTAs at the local and national levels; theNorthside ISD observance is rotated among the district high schoolseach year, with the festivities highlighting important elements ofthe host campus; at the 2025 celebration, the talented students ofHolmes are connecting with the greater community by showcasingtheir skills; members of the Air Force Junior Reserve OfficerTraining Corps are presenting the colors, fine arts students aresupplying entertainment, culinary students are overseeing thecatering, and the school's spirit organizations are acting asgreeters; andWHEREAS, For more than six decades, Holmes High School hasprovided generations of young Texans with a strong foundation onwhich to build, and its rich history is a source of tremendous prideto the community; now, therefore, be itRESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th TexasLegislature hereby honor Holmes High School on the occasion of theNorthside ISD Council of PTAs Founders Day celebration and extendto all those associated with the school sincere best wishes for thefuture; and, be it furtherRESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution beprepared for Holmes High School as an expression of high regard bythe Texas House of Representatives.Martinez Fischer______________________________Speaker of the HouseI certify that H.R.
