Whereas, Elle Purrier St. Pierre has experienced great success in national and
international running competitions, admirably exhibiting a dual dedication to her sport
and to the cherished family farm life she joyfully shares with her husband, Jamie Purrier,
and their young son, Ivan, and
Whereas, Vermonters first took notice of this gifted runner when she was a member of
Richford High School’s 2013 Division IV girls track and field team, and at the University
of New Hampshire, Elle St. Pierre earned all-American running honors on 11 occasions
and clocked the second fastest ever NCAA woman’s time for the indoor one mile, and
Whereas, in 2020, at the New York Runners Wanamaker Mile, she set the American
record for this same event; in 2021, at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, Elle Purrier
St. Pierre set the women’s American indoor two mile record; and in 2022, she won the
silver medal in the women’s 3000m (Indoor) at the world championships, and
Whereas, Elle Purrier St. Pierre has twice achieved the greatest athletic honor of being
named to the 2020 and 2024 U.S. Olympic teams, and
Whereas, running in the women’s 1500m, she earned tenth place in the final round in
Tokyo in 2021 (the Olympics having been delayed from 2020), and in Paris in 2024, Elle
Purrier St. Pierre secured an improved eighth-place final round finish, and she can be
extremely proud of these personal running milestones, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates Montgomery runner Elinor Purrier St. Pierre
on her outstanding athletic achievement at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
Elle Purrier St. Pierre.
