1 HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, This year marks the 250th Anniversary of the
3 founding of the United States Marine Corps; and
4 WHEREAS, The phrase "Semper Fidelis" is Latin for "always
5 faithful" and is the motto of the United States Marine Corps;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, This promise means that Marines are always
8 faithful to those on their left and right, from the fellow
9 Marines they fight alongside to those in their communities for
10 whom they fight; therefore, be it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
13 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the portion of
14 Interstate Route 80 of the National System of Interstate and
15 Defense Highways within the State of Illinois, from mile
16 marker 26 to mile marker 51, as the "U.S. Marine Corps Highway
17 Semper Fidelis"; and be it further
18 RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
19 is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
20 State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
21 giving notice of the name "U.S. Marine Corps Highway Semper

1 Fidelis".

Designates the portion of Interstate Route 80 of the National System of Interstate and Defense Highways within the State of Illinois, from mile marker 26 to mile marker 51, as the "U.S. Marine Corps Highway Semper Fidelis".
