A house RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND CELEBRATE THE
CHESNEE HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY GIRLS GOLF TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR
AN EXTRAORDINARY SEASON AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM ON WINNING THE 2024 SOUTH
CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to
learn that the members of the Chesnee High School varsity girls golf team
captured the top prize at their state tournament, held at Chester Country Club,
October 28-29, 2024; and
Whereas, the Lady Eagles' dominant 2024 performance earned them a
fourth consecutive state title, a feat that may force them to enlarge their
present display case for the better accommodation of their ever-increasing
collection of hardware; and
Whereas, having accumulated a 53-shot lead after the first of two
rounds, the Lady Eagles trounced runner-up Atlantic Collegiate Academy by 119
strokes, giving Chesnee an impressive final team score of 581; and
Whereas, Chesnee senior Olivia Roberts won medalist honors by four
strokes with a 10 under par 134. Senior Olivia Shields was third with a 148,
while senior Addison Parker was fifth with a 150. Juniors Jada Flynn (160) and
Abigail Watson (161) finished seventh and eighth, respectively. Rounding out
the team roster was junior Abby Herrington; and
Whereas, with justifiable pride, Head Coach Kyle Scruggs and his fine
staff watched the Lady Eagles raise their brand-new state title trophy; and
Whereas, appreciative of the deservedly honored reputation of the
Chesnee High varsity girls golf team and coaches, the House is delighted to add
a full meed of praise to the voices of the many admirers of these fine athletes
on the occasion of the acquisition of their newest state title. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South
Carolina House of Representatives, by this
resolution, recognize and celebrate the Chesnee High School varsity girls golf
team, coaches, and school officials for an extraordinary season and
congratulate them on winning the 2024 South Carolina High School League Class
AA State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy
of this resolution be presented to Principal Erik Gerstenacker and Head Coach
Kyle Scruggs of Chesnee High School.
