A house RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE Chesnee High School girls
strength TEAM, COACHES, AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO
CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2024 SOUTH CAROLINA CLASS AA STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, the South
Carolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the members of the
Chesnee girls' strength team of Spartanburg County captured the South Carolina
Class AA Strength Team Championship title at the female strength team state
competition, which was held at Blythewood High School on November 9, 2024; and
Whereas, to the delight
of their growing list of fans, the Chesnee Lady Eagles defeated a competitive field
of opponents with a score of 13 points. Their nearest challenger was
Chesterfield High School scoring only 8 points; and
Whereas, Lady Eagles
Olivia Tolleson, Bixley Koon, and Liana Kreydich, each scored 3 points each;
teammate Emma Barrington scored 2 points, and Hayden Roberts and Maggie Blanton
scored 1 point each; and
Whereas, in strength team
competitions, athletes placing first, second, third, and fourth in their
respective events are recognized on the podium. Chesnee's podium athletes
included MerriElizabeth Cable who placed third in her event and Olivia
Tolleson, Bixley Koon, and Liana Kreydich, who each placed fourth in theirs;
and
Whereas, the victory
was made all the sweeter because this win was the first AA Strength Team
Championship ever offered by the South Carolina High School Strength Coaches
Association at a state female strength meet; and
Whereas, in a sport
that requires individual determination, strength, and perseverance, Head Coach
David Jones and his skilled coaching staff used their own athletic experience
and training to forge a championship-caliber team and teach these athletes life
principles that will endure far beyond the mats; and
Whereas, the South
Carolina House of Representatives values the pride and recognition that the Chesnee
strength team members have brought to their school and their community, and the
House looks forward to following the team's continued achievements in the days
ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House
of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize
and honor the Chesnee High School girls strength team, coaches, and school
officials for an outstanding season and congratulate them for winning the 2024
South Carolina Class AA State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this
resolution be presented to Principal Gerstenacker and Coach David Jones.
