No. 6HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONWHEREAS, The Senior Life Midland Meals on Wheels programachieved a remarkable milestone in 2025 with the delivery of itsfive millionth meal; andWHEREAS, Founded in 1974 as Community and Senior Services, anoutreach project of First Christian Church, the organization wasincorporated as an independent nonprofit organization in 1982; fiveyears later, the donation of the Fuhrman-Vogel Center enabledCommunity and Senior Services to expand its programs and add a largecommercial kitchen to prepare food for Meals on Wheels and threesenior centers; andWHEREAS, The organization joined United Way of Midland in1988; in subsequent years, it launched its Retired Senior VolunteerProgram and gained federal funding to implement the FosterGrandparent and Senior Companion Volunteer programs; the presentname of Senior Life Midland was adopted in the late 2010s to reflectthe organization's wide array of initiatives for older adults,including Senior Corps, Homebound Services, and Senior Centers; inorder to meet the needs of local residents far into the future,Senior Life Midland moved into a new facility in 2024; andWHEREAS, Senior Life Midland has worked tirelessly to supportthe well-being of older residents, and its Meals on Wheels programis deserving of special recognition for providing nutritious foodand friendly social interaction to homebound individuals,reminding them that they are valued members of the community; now,therefore, be itRESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas,2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate the Senior Life MidlandMeals on Wheels program on delivering its five millionth meal andcommend all those associated with the organization for theiroutstanding efforts; and, be it furtherRESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution beprepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the TexasHouse of Representatives and Senate.Craddick____________________________________________________________President of the SenateSpeaker of the HouseI certify that H.C.R.
