R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the passing of
eight-year-old Linnie Anne McCown of Austin, who was tragically
lost in the July 4, 2025, flooding in Kerr County; and
WHEREAS, Linnie McCown was born on January 6, 2017, to Callie
Balagia McCown and Michael Madison McCown, and she was blessed with
the affection of her two brothers, Bates and George; and
WHEREAS, A student at Casis Elementary School, Linnie always
strived to do her best despite the challenges she faced as a person
with dyslexia; she was excited to share when she mastered a new
reading strategy, and she was especially helpful and encouraging to
her classmates; she was also known for her cheerful and friendly
nature, often greeting others by name and giving sweet hugs to her
teachers; and
WHEREAS, Linnie was most passionate about dance; a member of
the competitive team, Tarrytown DanceForce, she frequently
practiced for performances and worked on choreography with her
friends; she was also a talented artist, and her family delighted in
finding the drawings she created and displayed around their home;
and
WHEREAS, Although her time on this earth was far too brief,
Linnie McCown was a ray of light in the lives of those who held her
dear, and they will forever cherish their memories of her joy,
laughter, and love; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
Linnie Anne McCown and extend heartfelt condolences to the members
of her family: to her parents, Callie Balagia McCown and Michael
Madison McCown; to her brothers, Bates and George McCown; to her
grandparents, Tara and Steve McCown and Linda and Jimmy Balagia; to
her great-grandparents, Carroll and Carolyn Fuchs; and to her other
relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Linnie
McCown.
