R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Hays County Food Bank celebrated the grand opening
of its new headquarters in San Marcos on August 27, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1984, Hays County Food Bank works to
address hunger in the community; distributing mainly rescued and
donated food, the organization reduces waste by keeping good food
out of landfills, and it also offers nutrition education through
partnerships with local schools; and
WHEREAS, The new distribution center will help Hays County
Food Bank better meet the needs of its clients, with increased space
for food storage and services as well as a new business model that
allows visitors to select their own proteins, produce, and
shelf-stable items in a market-style setting; and
WHEREAS, For more than four decades, Hays County Food Bank
has been a critical lifeline for local residents facing
malnourishment, and its impressive new facility is sure to be an
invaluable community resource for years to come; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the opening of
the new Hays County Food Bank headquarters and extend to all those
involved with the organization sincere best wishes for continued
success with their important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the food bank as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
