No. 169R E S O L U T I O NWHEREAS, Dr. Ruben Gallegos Elementary School in theBrownsville Independent School District is celebrating its 25thanniversary during the 2025-2026 school year; andWHEREAS, Opened in 2001, the school is named for Dr. RubenGallegos, the original principal of Castañeda Elementary inBrownsville, which was founded to serve migrant students; he alsoheld leadership positions with Dallas ISD and Edinburg ISD, and hetaught future school administrators during his tenure as aprofessor at The University of Texas at Brownsville; andWHEREAS, Gallegos Elementary is located on Avenida RanchoViejo in Brownsville, and today, the campus benefits from the ableleadership of its principal, Cynthia Cardenas; since its inception,the school has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to providingstudents with a quality education and a positive learningenvironment, and it has promoted student activities such as theUniversity Interscholastic League, chess club, and science fair;andWHEREAS, Over the course of the past two and a half decades,Gallegos Elementary has given countless young Texans a strongfoundation on which to build, and it is a pleasure to join inrecognizing the school on this milestone occasion; now, therefore,be itRESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th TexasLegislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 25thanniversary of Dr. Ruben Gallegos Elementary School and extend toall those associated with the campus sincere best wishes for thefuture; and, be it furtherRESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution beprepared for Gallegos Elementary as an expression of high regard bythe Texas House of Representatives.Gámez______________________________Speaker of the HouseI certify that H.R.
