H.R. No. 169
  R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Ruben Gallegos Elementary School in the
  Brownsville Independent School District is celebrating its 25th
  anniversary during the 2025-2026 school year; and
         WHEREAS, Opened in 2001, the school is named for Dr. Ruben
  Gallegos, the original principal of Castañeda Elementary in
  Brownsville, which was founded to serve migrant students; he also
  held leadership positions with Dallas ISD and Edinburg ISD, and he
  taught future school administrators during his tenure as a
  professor at The University of Texas at Brownsville; and
         WHEREAS, Gallegos Elementary is located on Avenida Rancho
  Viejo in Brownsville, and today, the campus benefits from the able
  leadership of its principal, Cynthia Cardenas; since its inception,
  the school has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to providing
  students with a quality education and a positive learning
  environment, and it has promoted student activities such as the
  University Interscholastic League, chess club, and science fair;
  and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of the past two and a half decades,
  Gallegos Elementary has given countless young Texans a strong
  foundation on which to build, and it is a pleasure to join in
  recognizing the school on this milestone occasion; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 25th
  anniversary of Dr. Ruben Gallegos Elementary School and extend to
  all those associated with the campus sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Gallegos Elementary as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
