               HOUSE CONCURRENT
                RESOLUTION No. 3
1    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana
2 Department of Transportation to rename a portion of State Road
3 237 near Perry County Memorial Hospital the "Sergeant
4 Heather J. Glenn Memorial Highway".
5   Whereas, Sergeant Heather J. Glenn honorably gave her life
6 to the citizens of Tell City and Perry County, serving for 20
7 years as a dedicated member of the Tell City Police
8 Department, consistently exemplifying the highest standards of
9 law enforcement and public service;
10   Whereas, Born on June 9, 1976, in Owensboro, Kentucky,
11 Heather Glenn was a lifelong resident of Tell City, a 1994
12 graduate of Tell City High School, and a proud alumna of
13 Vincennes University, where she earned a degree in criminal
14 justice before graduating from the Indiana Law Enforcement
15 Academy;
16   Whereas, Sergeant Glenn followed in the footsteps of her
17 father, retired Tell City police officer Bob Glenn, continuing a
18 family legacy of service while earning the respect and
19 admiration of colleagues, city leaders, and citizens alike;
20   Whereas, Sergeant Glenn served her community not only as
21 an officer but also as a mentor and leader, fulfilling roles such
22 as taser instructor, field training officer, and active member of
23 the Fraternal Order of Police, while also fiercely advocating
24 for victims of crime;
25   Whereas, Beyond her professional career, Heather was
26 cherished for her compassion, warmth, and vibrant spirit, seen
27 in her devotion to her family, her love of rescue animals, and

1 the joy she found in kayaking, caring for her home, and
2 attending concerts;
3    Whereas, On July 3, 2023, Sergeant Glenn tragically gave her
4 life in the line of duty while attempting to arrest a domestic
5 violence suspect at Perry County Memorial Hospital,
6 demonstrating extraordinary courage and selflessness in the
7 protection of others;
8   Whereas, Sergeant Glenn’s ultimate sacrifice and enduring
9 impact on the lives of residents of Tell City, Perry County, and
10 the surrounding communities call for a lasting and visible
11 tribute to honor her memory and service; and
12   Whereas, The designation of a portion of State Road 237,
13 near Perry County Memorial Hospital, the site of her final act
14 of bravery, as the “Sergeant Heather J. Glenn Memorial
15 Highway” will serve as a permanent testament to her courage,
16 dedication, and legacy: Therefore,
17Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
18of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
19the Senate concurring:
20   SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the
21 Indiana Department of Transportation to rename a portion of
22 State Road 237 near Perry County Memorial Hospital the
23 "Sergeant Heather J. Glenn Memorial Highway".
24   SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
25 Representatives shall transmit of copies of this resolution to the
26 Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation.

  Mr. Speaker: Your Committee on Roads and Transportation, to
which was referred House Concurrent Resolution 3, has had the same
