Glenn honorably gave her life6 to the citizens of Tell City and Perry County, serving for 207 years as a dedicated member of the Tell City Police8 Department, consistently exemplifying the highest standards of9 law enforcement and public service;10 Whereas, Born on June 9, 1976, in Owensboro, Kentucky,11 Heather Glenn was a lifelong resident of Tell City, a 199412 graduate of Tell City High School, and a proud alumna of13 Vincennes University, where she earned a degree in criminal14 justice before graduating from the Indiana Law Enforcement15 Academy;16 Whereas, Sergeant Glenn followed in the footsteps of her17 father, retired Tell City police officer Bob Glenn, continuing a18 family legacy of service while earning the respect and19 admiration of colleagues, city leaders, and citizens alike;20 Whereas, Sergeant Glenn served her community not only as21 an officer but also as a mentor and leader, fulfilling roles such22 as taser instructor, field training officer, and active member of23 the Fraternal Order of Police, while also fiercely advocating24 for victims of crime;25 Whereas, Beyond her professional career, Heather was26 cherished for her compassion, warmth, and vibrant spirit, seen27 in her devotion to her family, her love of rescue animals, andHC 3—RC 2510/DI hf21 the joy she found in kayaking, caring for her home, and2 attending concerts;3 Whereas, On July 3, 2023, Sergeant Glenn tragically gave her4 life in the line of duty while attempting to arrest a domestic5 violence suspect at Perry County Memorial Hospital,6 demonstrating extraordinary courage and selflessness in the7 protection of others;8 Whereas, Sergeant Glenn’s ultimate sacrifice and enduring9 impact on the lives of residents of Tell City, Perry County, and10 the surrounding communities call for a lasting and visible11 tribute to honor her memory and service; and12 Whereas, The designation of a portion of State Road 237,13 near Perry County Memorial Hospital, the site of her final act14 of bravery, as the “Sergeant Heather J. Glenn Memorial15 Highway” will serve as a permanent testament to her courage,16 dedication, and legacy: Therefore,17Be it resolved by the House of Representatives18of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,19the Senate concurring:20 SECTION 1.
