hr3/engrossed.txtMISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE2026 Regular SessionTo: RulesBy: Representative JohnsonHouse Resolution 3(As Adopted by House)A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PRESTIGIOUS AND ESTEEMED LADIESOF THE LINKS, INCORPORATED, ON THE MOMENTOUS OCCASION OF "MISSISSIPPILINKS DAY AT THE STATE CAPITOL 2026", AND HONORING THE ORGANIZATION'SIMPRESSIVE SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY, THIS STATE AND THE NATION.���� WHEREAS, the prestigious andesteemed ladies of the Mississippi chapters of The Links, Incorporated, havejourneyed to the Mississippi State Capitol on February 11, 2026, for"Mississippi Links Day at the State Capitol 2026", to battle food insecurity,advocate for maternal health, the expansion of SNAP eligibility, Black farmersand access and equity in Mississippi; and���� WHEREAS, The Links,Incorporated, is an international, nonprofit corporation which was founded in1946, and now boasts more than 17,000 members in 299 chapters that are locatedin 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and theUnited Kingdom, with seven active chapters located in the State of Mississippi,the organization's Southern Area; and���� WHEREAS, The Links,Incorporated, has a rich and documented legacy of promoting and engaging ineducational, civic and inter-cultural activities that enrich the lives ofmembers of the Black community at large; and���� WHEREAS, this distinguishedorganization utilizes its five programming facets � Services to Youth, TheArts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, andHealth and Human Services - to enhance the lives of others as it strives toserve the community through volunteer service; and���� WHEREAS, The Links,Incorporated, implements programs and initiatives that address the mostcritical needs of underserved communities; and���� WHEREAS, "MississippiLinks Day at the State Capitol" is a vital part of the national politicalawareness initiative as it creates the environment for members of thisorganization to receive legislative updates, promote advocacy and take actionas part of their commitment to criminal and social justice, politicalawareness, voter empowerment, and commitment to statewide civic engagement; and���� WHEREAS, The Links,Incorporated, is one of the nation's oldest, largest and most revered volunteerservice organizations whose members are professional women committed toenriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of AfricanAmericans and other persons of African ancestry, and to this end, theorganization contributes more than one million documented hours of communityservice annually; and���� WHEREAS, the Southern Areaof The Links, Incorporated, consists of more than 4,500 members in 80 chapters,with seven enthusiastic Mississippi chapters, which include the MississippiDelta, Mississippi Roses, Golden Crest, Jackson, LeFleur's Bluff, Natchez andGulf Coast chapters, with each working independently and collectively toimprove lives and communities within the State of Mississippi; and���� WHEREAS, it is mostappropriate to commend an exceptional volunteer organization, such as TheLinks, Incorporated, driven by its mission to improve the quality of life for all,thereby improving the lives of countless Mississippians:���� NOW, THEREFORE, BE ITRESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That wedo hereby commend the prestigious and esteemed ladies of The Links,Incorporated, on the momentous occasion of "Mississippi Links Day at theState Capitol 2026", and honor the organization's impressive service tothe community, this state and the nation.���� BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, Thatcopies of this resolution be furnished to all chapter presidents of theMississippi chapters of The Links, Incorporated, and to the members of theCapitol Press Corps.
