hr8/introduced.txtHR8 INTRODUCED1 HR82 7BYJWVV-13 By Representative Sellers4 RFD:5 First Read: 13-Jan-26Page 07BYJWVV-1 01/12/2026 AR (L)AR 2026-1661234 HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF DONALD5 JONES.67WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the8 passing of Mr. Donald Jones, while we also celebrate his9 life as a devoted Christian; a beloved husband, father, and10 grandfather; and a valuable member of his community; and11WHEREAS, the youngest of 10 children, Donald Jones12 was born to Jesse Jones, Sr. and Vandella Jones; Donald13 accepted Christ at an early age and became an active member14 of First Missionary Baptist Church of Hueytown; and15WHEREAS, Donald was a 1968 graduate of Westfield High16 School, where he enjoyed playing the drums in the marching17 band; following graduation, he attended Bessemer Technical18 College and later joined the United States Air Force; and19WHEREAS, after completing his military service, he20 worked for 37 years at U.S. Steel Corporation in Fairfield,21 until his retirement; Donald was also the owner and producer22 of Jones Upholstery, where he became known for his excellent23 work; and24WHEREAS, Donald married his lovely wife, Minnie25 Worley, in 1976; they became proud parents and later enjoyed26 life as grandparents; Donald remained dedicated to his faith27 throughout his life, serving as a Sunday School teacher,28 trustee, president of the senior usher board, and member ofPage 1HR8 INTRODUCED29 the male chorus; and30WHEREAS, in addition to his parents, Donald was31 preceded in death by his siblings, Gertie Mae, Lee Thomas,32 Dicie Ann, Willie Claude, Jesse, Jr., Alfonza, and Wendell;33 and34WHEREAS, left to cherish his memories are his loving35 wife; son, Donovan Lamar (Valencia); grandson, Donovan, Jr.;36 granddaughter, Victoria; brother, Norman; brothers-in-law,37 Jerome McFadden (LeSeanda) and Raymond Jiles;38 sisters-in-law, Mattie Jones and Barbara Banks Jones; and a39 host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and40WHEREAS, Donald Jones's reputation and legacy were41 built on a lifetime of compassion, service, and unwavering42 commitment to others; now therefore,43BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE44 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Mr. Donald Jones45 is recorded with deep sadness, and even as we mourn his46 death and the loss it represents, we also celebrate his47 faith, kindness, and spirit, which will remain a lasting48 inspiration, carried forward by the family he cherished so49 dearly.Page 2
