HR____ MOURNING THE DEATH AND CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF DONALD
JONES.
WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we note the
passing of Mr. Donald Jones, while we also celebrate his
life as a devoted Christian; a beloved husband, father, and
grandfather; and a valuable member of his community; and
WHEREAS, the youngest of 10 children, Donald Jones
was born to Jesse Jones, Sr. and Vandella Jones; Donald
accepted Christ at an early age and became an active member
of First Missionary Baptist Church of Hueytown; and
WHEREAS, Donald was a 1968 graduate of Westfield High
School, where he enjoyed playing the drums in the marching
band; following graduation, he attended Bessemer Technical
College and later joined the United States Air Force; and
WHEREAS, after completing his military service, he
worked for 37 years at U.S. Steel Corporation in Fairfield,
until his retirement; Donald was also the owner and producer
of Jones Upholstery, where he became known for his excellent
work; and
WHEREAS, Donald married his lovely wife, Minnie
Worley, in 1976; they became proud parents and later enjoyed
life as grandparents; Donald remained dedicated to his faith
throughout his life, serving as a Sunday School teacher,
trustee, president of the senior usher board, and member of

the male chorus; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his parents, Donald was
preceded in death by his siblings, Gertie Mae, Lee Thomas,
Dicie Ann, Willie Claude, Jesse, Jr., Alfonza, and Wendell;
and
WHEREAS, left to cherish his memories are his loving
wife; son, Donovan Lamar (Valencia); grandson, Donovan, Jr.;
granddaughter, Victoria; brother, Norman; brothers-in-law,
Jerome McFadden (LeSeanda) and Raymond Jiles;
sisters-in-law, Mattie Jones and Barbara Banks Jones; and a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and
WHEREAS, Donald Jones's reputation and legacy were
built on a lifetime of compassion, service, and unwavering
commitment to others; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Mr. Donald Jones
is recorded with deep sadness, and even as we mourn his
death and the loss it represents, we also celebrate his
faith, kindness, and spirit, which will remain a lasting
inspiration, carried forward by the family he cherished so
dearly.
