5 CARING FOR SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN THROUGH THE HUGGS AND
6 KISSES, INC., DAY CARE CENTER AND FOUNDATION.

8WHEREAS, we take pride and pleasure in honoring Dr.
9 Jacqueline W. Stewart for her outstanding work caring for
10 special needs and sick children through her day care center,
11 Huggs and Kisses, Inc.; and
12WHEREAS, at an early age Jacqueline realized her
13 lifelong ambition to be a pediatrician; and
14WHEREAS, she began to follow her calling to care for
15 children by pursuing education in the medical field; she
16 received her Bachelor's Degree from Tuskegee University and
17 her Doctor of Medicine from The University of Alabama at
18 Birmingham; professionally, she has worked at numerous
19 health care facilities across Alabama, contributing to the
20 health and well-being of many lives; and
21WHEREAS, Dr. Stewart's Huggs and Kisses, Inc.,
22 located in Birmingham, was founded to provide care for sick
23 children so their parents or guardians would be able to
24 return to work; in over 40 years of experience as a
25 pediatrician, Dr. Stewart has heard from many concerned
26 parents who were worried about losing their jobs or having
27 to take time off from work to care for their sick children;
28 beyond caring for sick children, Huggs and Kisses also

29 provides specific care for children with special needs; and
30WHEREAS, after seeing the increasing need for the
31 services provided at Huggs and Kisses, Dr. Stewart started
32 Mission Hugs, Inc., awarding scholarships and providing
33 tuition assistance for families who wish to send their
34 children to Huggs and Kisses; Mission Hugs steps in to meet
35 the needs of families with limited funds and children who
36 need special equipment and medicine; and
37WHEREAS, the unique services Huggs and Kisses
38 provides are highly sought after because there are very few
39 cities that offer similar resources; now therefore,
40BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
41 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we highly commend and recognize
42 Dr. Jacqueline W. Stewart for her outstanding and life
43 changing work through Huggs and Kisses, Inc., Day Care
44 Center and Mission Hugs, Inc., serving the needs of special
45 needs and sick children.
