1HOUSE RESOLUTION
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend Mika Baugher on her decades of
4service to the people of Illinois, to multiple House Speakers,
5and to this entire chamber; and
6    WHEREAS, Mika Baugher initially joined the House staff as
7a receptionist in the Leadership Office, where her talent and
8proficiency soon led her to the position of Executive
9Assistant to the Speaker, a role she performed under two House
10Speakers for more than two decades; and
11    WHEREAS, Mika Baugher's professional excellence has made
12her an institution in the House, serving as the Speaker's
13Capitol and district scheduler, managing chaotic session days,
14effortlessly navigating every task, and remembering every
15detail; and
16    WHEREAS, Mika Baugher has regularly been the first in the
17office in the morning and the last to leave in the evening,
18despite a 40-mile daily commute from her hometown of
19Litchfield; and
20    WHEREAS, Even while navigating the rapidly changing
21environment of the House during session, Mika Baugher has

1consistently sought to make everything easier for those around
2her, giving of herself without asking colleagues for anything
3in return; and
4    WHEREAS, Mika Baugher has been noted by the members of the
5House and those working around the Capitol for being a person
6who will go to whatever lengths to get their meetings
7scheduled and to help them achieve their goals while also
8remaining endlessly attentive to the many demands of the
9Speaker's schedule; and
10    WHEREAS, Even while handling her many duties, Mika Baugher
11has maintained a responsibility for the health and well-being
12of everyone in her office, going above and beyond to care for
13staff; and
14    WHEREAS, Through Mika Baugher's kindness, approachability,
15and generosity with her time, she has become a go-to person for
16all people on all topics in the House; and
17    WHEREAS, Mika Baugher's commitment to the operation of the
18House has been matched only by her commitment to her husband,
19Chris Baugher, and their sons, Owen and Peyton; and
20    WHEREAS, Mika Baugher has been an invaluable asset to
21House members over the course of her service, and she has

1supported, mentored, and helped the professional growth of
2hundreds of staffers throughout her tenure; and
3    WHEREAS, Mika Baugher's tireless commitment to those
4around her has been indispensable in making all of the work of
5this chamber possible, and everyone who has worked alongside
6her are grateful for all she has done to make everyone and
7everything around her better; therefore, be it
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we commend and thank Mika Baugher for her many years of
11committed service to the Illinois General Assembly and the
12people of the State of Illinois, and we wish her continued
13success in her future endeavors; and be it further
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Mika Baugher as a symbol of our esteem and
16respect.
