Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A house RESOLUTIONto recognize and commend leonardo drs for itssignificant investment in south carolina, its contributions to nationaldefense, and its support of the united states navy's shipbuilding and submarineprograms.Whereas, the SouthCarolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that on Friday, January23, 2026, Leonardo DRS will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony in celebration of theirnew naval power systems facility in Charleston, marking a major milestone inadvanced manufacturing and national defense capabilities within the PalmettoState; andWhereas, the newCharleston naval facility encompasses approximately 140,000 square feet andrepresents a substantial investment to expand domestic production capacity insupport of United States Navy submarine and shipbuilding programs including theColumbia-class ballistic missile submarine program, a cornerstone of the nation'sstrategic deterrence; andWhereas, the facilityprovides state-of-the-art space for advanced manufacturing, final assembly,system integration, and testing, dedicated to large-scale components forLeonardo DRS's naval electric power and propulsion systems; andWhereas, as the UnitedStates Navy continues to field more power-intensive weapons, sensors, andadvanced computing systems, the need for scalable, integrated powerarchitectures has become essential to mission success across next-generationsurface combatants and submarines; andWhereas, the Charlestonnaval facility strategically positions Leonardo DRS to deliver these advancedpower and propulsion architectures at scale, while maintaining the schedulereliability, quality, and performance required to meet the evolving needs ofthe United States Navy and allied maritime forces; andWhereas, Leonardo DRS,through its naval power business, designs and delivers advanced power andpropulsion solutions engineered for the world's most demanding maritime andbattlefield environments, enables support for advanced sensors, directed-energysystems, high performance computing, and propulsion across surface ships,submarines, and ground platforms; andWhereas, the company'sproven capabilities include Columbia-class submarine power and propulsionsystems, hybrid electric drive technologies, and onboard power solutions thatare reliable, cost-effective, and backed by decades of operational performance;andWhereas, theestablishment of the Charleston naval facility strengthens South Carolina'srole as a critical contributor to national defense, enhances domesticmanufacturing capability, and supports high-skill jobs while fosteringlong-term economic growth within the region; andWhereas, the members ofthe South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate Leonardo DRS's continuedpartnership with the United States Navy and its commitment to innovation,reliability, and excellence in support of national security and the warfighters.Now, therefore,Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:That the members of theSouth Carolina House of Representatives,by this resolution, recognize and commend Leonardo DRS for its significantinvestment in South Carolina, its contributions to national defense, and itssupport of the United States Navy's shipbuilding and submarine programs.Be it further resolvedthat a copy of this resolution be presented to Leonardo DRS.----XX----This web page was last updated on January 22, 2026 at 10:37 AM
