5 Subject: Conservation and development; solid waste; brownfields; landfill
6 Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill would appropriate the
7 sum of $143,000.00 to the Agency of Natural Resources in fiscal year 2027 for
8 the purpose of a grant to the Green Mountain Economic Development
9 Corporation for the costs of reinitiating brownfields site development of the
10 Upper Valley Regional Landfill in the village of Post Mills in the Town of
11 Thetford.
12    An act relating to brownfields redevelopment of the Upper Valley Regional
13    Landfill
14 It is hereby enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Vermont:
15 Sec. 1. BROWNFIELDS; UPPER VALLEY REGIONAL LANDFILL
16    The sum of $143,000.00 is appropriated from the General Fund to the
17 Agency of Natural Resources in fiscal year 2027 for the purpose of a grant to
18 the Green Mountain Economic Development Corporation (GMEDC) for the
19 costs of reinitiating brownfields site development of the Upper Valley
20 Regional Landfill in the village of Post Mills in the Town of Thetford. The

1 grant shall be available to GMEDC for costs incurred in a probate proceeding
2 to obtain appointment as court-appointed administrator to facilitate the transfer
3 of the site to new ownership for approval to redevelop the landfill site.
4 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE
5    This act shall take effect on passage.
