1AN ACT
2 To enact R.S. 11:1732(14)(a)(xiv), relative to participation in the Municipal Employees'
3Retirement System of Louisiana; to provide for an additional employer in the
4system; to provide for membership of the office of the constable of the New Orleans
5Second City Court; to provide for an effective date; and to provide for related
6matters.
7Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.
8 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
9Section 1. R.S. 11:1732(14)(a)(xiv) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
10§1732. Definitions
11The following words and phrases, as used in this Chapter, unless a different
12meaning is plainly required by the context, shall have the following meanings:

14(14)(a) "Employer" or "participating employer" shall mean:

16(xiv) Marshals or constables of city courts, if not otherwise eligible for
17membership in any other local, state, or statewide retirement system.

19Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature of the governor or, if not
20 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without

1 signatures by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of
2 Louisiana. If vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act
3 shall become effective on the day following such approval.
