hb5481/introduced.txtHOUSE BILL NO. 5481A bill to amend 1998 PA 58, entitled"Michigan liquor control code of 1998,"by amending section 509 (MCL 436.1509), as amended by2018 PA 37.the people of the state of michigan enact:Sec. 509. (1) The commission may issue,without regard to the quota provisions requirements of section 531, licenses to acommission, board, or authority governing or operating a municipal civic centeror civic auditorium or to 1 or more of its concessionaires, or to both, if allof the following apply:(a) The center orauditorium is within a city or township having a population of not less than 5,500.5,000.(b) The center orauditorium is owned and operated as a municipal enterprise.(c) The legislativebody of the municipality first authorizes the operating authority of the civiccenter or civic auditorium or its concessionaire to apply to the commission fora license.(2) Licenses issuedunder this section are not transferable, must not be issued to an educationalinstitution or for a facility operated in connection with an educationalinstitution, and must authorize the sale of alcoholic liquor only in connectionwith a scheduled event at the licensed premises.
