Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A concurrent RESOLUTIONTO CONGRATULATE GLENN AND ALLIE WILLIAMS OFGREENWOOD COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR FIFTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND TOEXTEND BEST WISHES FOR MUCH CONTINUED HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT.Whereas, the members ofthe South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to learn that David GlennWilliams and Alice Adams Williams of Greenwood County will celebrate theirfiftieth wedding anniversary on December 31, 2026; andWhereas, few successesin life are greater than a marriage that endures the test of time, for the long-lastinglove and support of a spouse are unmatched in their importance and cannot beoverestimated; andWhereas, married onDecember 31, 1976, at Cokesbury College in Hodges, South Carolina, Glenn andAllie Williams have demonstrated a fifty-year commitment to one another in theinstitution of holy matrimony; andWhereas, Glenn andAllie, having been born and raised in Greenwood County and having lived alltheir lives there as contributing citizens, have earned the admiration andappreciation of their community; andWhereas, blessed withtwo children, Fred Williams of Columbia and David Williams of Athens, Georgia,the senior Williamses also have experienced the deep joy of four lovinggrandchildren and two devoted and caring daughters-in-law, all of whom haveenriched their lives; andWhereas, having managedhis family's logging and forestry business with his father and brother most ofhis working life, Glenn has continued to give back to his community followinghis retirement. He builds houses and serves in numerous leadership roles,including as Sunday school teacher, at Main Street United Methodist Church. Inaddition to participating in local politics and running marathons, Glenn has receivedhis second college degree from Lander University and is working on a third. Heis a model of entrepreneurship, hard work, public service, and lifelonglearning; andWhereas, an ultimateexample of a loving mother, devoted teacher, and selfless human being, AllieWilliams spent decades teaching the two-year-old class at Noah's Ark preschoolwhile also raising two children. She retired from teaching in Greenwood'spublic schools, having run a vacation Bible club with Glenn for over a decade,and she continues to be one of the most vital and integral members of herchurch; andWhereas, their faith inJesus Christ, love for one another, dedication to their family, and service totheir neighbors are an inspiration to all who have had the privilege of knowingthem; andWhereas, it is withgreat pleasure that the members of the South Carolina General Assembly expresstheir congratulations to these two special South Carolinians on reaching themilestone of their golden wedding anniversary.
