A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION celebrating the St. Mary’s Cardinals as the 2025
       Class 9B state football champions.
   WHEREAS, the St. Mary’s Cardinals completed an undefeated season and captured their
second Class 9B state football championship with a decisive 54–6 victory over the Avon
Pirates; and
   WHEREAS, the Cardinals wasted no time asserting their dominance, as Thomas LaVoy
broke free for a forty-one-yard touchdown run just seconds after a turnover, igniting a
powerful offensive performance in which the Cardinals scored touchdowns on each of their
first three possessions to take a commanding 30–0 lead before the end of the first quarter;
and
   WHEREAS, Cardinal's senior Lincoln LeBrun earned the Joe Robbie MVP Award and the
most outstanding back award following a one hundred and fifty-four yard, two-touchdown
performance, and junior Alex Lindeman was recognized as the most outstanding lineman for
his exceptional play; and
   WHEREAS, the St. Mary’s Cardinals football team, coaches, staff, and superintendent
Father Shane Stevens, demonstrated exceptional teamwork, dedication, leadership, hard
work, and commitment on and off the field;
   NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the One Hundred First Legislature of the
State of South Dakota, that the St. Mary’s Cardinals are the 2025 Class 9B state champions.
