House concurrent resolution congratulating the 2025 Essex High SchoolHornets on winning the State boys’ volleyball championship.(H.C.R.180)Offered by Representatives Black of Essex, Dodge of Essex, Dolan of Essex Junction,Garofano of Essex, Houghton of Essex Junction, and Steady of MiltonOffered by Senators Baruth, Gulick, Mattos, and VyhovskyWhereas, in recent years, the Essex Hornets boys’ volleyball team’s skill has beenreconfirmed repeatedly with the school’s five-time representation in the Statechampionship game, but, regrettably, victory always eluded them, andWhereas, in 2025, the team’s fortunes changed as first-seeded and undefeated Essexagain earned a championship berth and faced the second-ranked Mount Mansfield UnionHigh School Cougars in a contest at St. Michael’s College in Colchester, andWhereas, in a tightly played first set, Essex emerged on top 25–22, although theCougars rebounded in the second set 25–18, guaranteeing at least a fourth set of play, andWhereas, in the third set, the reenergized Hornets proceeded to defeat the Cougarsconvincingly 25–15, and despite a final Cougar surge, Essex prevailed 25–22 in thefourth set, clinching a 3–1 game victory and the long-awaited first State crown, andWhereas, the jubilant Hornets (16–0), who emerged triumphant, were Coen Giles,Thomas Trombley, Maxim Katsnelson, Aaditya Pradhan, Riley Anger, Malx Eckman,Cooper Yandow, Rohan Rai, Gregory Maiberger, Ishack Magar, Patrick Jordan, EvanHughes, and Lorenzo Ayoub, andWhereas, cohead coaches Dylan Lamere and Gary Randall proved great strategists forthe team, now therefore be itResolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:That the General Assembly congratulates the 2025 Essex High School Hornets onwinning the State boys’ volleyball championship, and be it furtherResolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution toEssex High School.VT LEG #387220 v.1
