               RESOLUTION No. ____
1    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing the Indiana
2 University Hoosiers football team for winning the 2026 College
3 Football Playoff National Championship and for achieving an
4 undefeated season.
5  Whereas, The Indiana University Hoosiers defeated the
6 University of Miami Hurricanes 27-21 to win the College
7 Football Playoff National Championship on January 19, 2026;
8   Whereas, The championship victory capped off a perfect 16-0
9 season for Indiana, marking the best record in the football
10 program's history. Notably, their season included a win over
11 Ohio State University to secure the Big Ten Championship;
12   Whereas, Indiana University's unbeaten run was also a
13 milestone in college football, delivering the first 16-0 season in
14 131 years, tying the record set by the 1894 Yale University
15 football team;
16   Whereas, The championship game against Miami was fiercely
17 contested, with Indiana establishing 10-point leads on three
18 occasions, only for the Hurricanes to narrow the gap each time.
19 However, the Hoosiers never trailed in any of their three
20 playoff games and consistently maintained their lead
21 throughout;
22   Whereas, The entire Indiana University football team rose to
23 the occasion and delivered when their team and the Hoosier
24 fans needed them most, including a spectacular fourth-quarter
25 touchdown run by Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza;

1   Whereas, Head Coach Curt Cignetti vowed to bring a
2 national championship title to Bloomington, Indiana, and he,
3 along with his coaching staff and the Indiana Hoosiers football
4 team, fulfilled that promise: Therefore,
5Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
6of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
7the Senate concurring:
8    SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly recognizes
9 the Indiana University Hoosiers football team for winning the
10 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship and
11 celebrates their historic undefeated season.
12    SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
13 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to
14 Indiana University Vice President and Director of
15 Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson for distribution.
