RESOLUTION No. ____
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing

Whereas, The mission of the American Red Cross is to
prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of
emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the
generosity of donors;
Whereas, The American Red Cross provides about 40 percent
of the nation's blood supply, facilitating the collection and
distribution of essential blood and blood products to those who
need them, including accident and burn victims, heart surgery
and organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment
for leukemia, cancer, or sickle cell disease;
Whereas, The nation is facing a blood shortage due to a
notable decline in blood donations;
Whereas, In times of crisis and strife, the American Red Cross
dedicates all available resources to meeting the blood needs of
hospitals and patients, but it cannot do it alone; and
Whereas, To overcome these immense challenges, the
American Red Cross relies on Hoosiers to come together to
support those in greatest need: Therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
the Senate concurring:
