               RESOLUTION No. ____
1    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION recognizing
2 Wednesday, February 4, 2026, as a day to honor the work and
3 mission of the Indiana Region of the American Red Cross.
4   Whereas, The mission of the American Red Cross is to
5 prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of
6 emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the
7 generosity of donors;
8   Whereas, The American Red Cross provides about 40 percent
9 of the nation's blood supply, facilitating the collection and
10 distribution of essential blood and blood products to those who
11 need them, including accident and burn victims, heart surgery
12 and organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment
13 for leukemia, cancer, or sickle cell disease;
14  Whereas, The nation is facing a blood shortage due to a
15 notable decline in blood donations;
16   Whereas, In times of crisis and strife, the American Red Cross
17 dedicates all available resources to meeting the blood needs of
18 hospitals and patients, but it cannot do it alone; and
19   Whereas, To overcome these immense challenges, the
20 American Red Cross relies on Hoosiers to come together to
21 support those in greatest need: Therefore,
22Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
23of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
24the Senate concurring:

1     SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly recognizes
2 Wednesday, February 4, 2026, as a day to honor the Indiana
3 Region of the American Red Cross.
4     SECTION 2. That the Indiana General Assembly urges both
5 its members and constituents to give to the Red Cross in some
6 way, whether by signing up to volunteer in the community,
7 donating financially, or making the heroic gift of a life-saving
8 blood donation.
