1A HOUSE RESOLUTION honoring Representative Karen
2    Engleman.
3Whereas, Representative Karen Engleman, who was first
4    elected to represent the citizens of House District 70 in 2016,
5    will be leaving the House Chamber for the last time at the end
6    of the 2026 legislative session;
7      Whereas, During her time in the House of Representatives,
8    Representative Engleman has served as chair of the Statutory
9    Committee on Ethics;
10      Whereas, Representative Engleman has also served as a
11    member of the Government & Regulatory Reform and the Local
12    Government committees;
13      Whereas, Representative Engleman passionately serves her

1    constituents and genuinely cares for all Hoosiers;
2Whereas, Representative Engleman proudly authored and
3    helped pass House Bill 1191 in 2018 which removed the
4    requirement that a licensed health practitioner report to local
5    law enforcement an adult patient who is a suspected victim of
6    human trafficking and instead provide resources and services
7    to the patient;
8      Whereas, Representative Engleman attended Corydon
9    Central High School and Indiana University Southeast;
10Whereas, In 2018, Governing Magazine honored
11    Representative Engleman as a Public Servant of the Year for
12    her legislative efforts on sexual harassment prevention. She
13    authored a bill requiring a minimum of one hour of mandatory
14    sexual harassment training for all members of the Indiana
15    General Assembly;
16      Whereas, In addition to her work at the Statehouse,
17    Representative Engleman served almost 14 years as Harrison
18    County Auditor and spent seven years as Crandall Town
19    Clerk-Treasurer;
20      Whereas, Representative Engleman, along with her husband,
21    Gary, have five children and 10 grandchildren. She is a
22    member of Oak Grove Church and the Corydon Rotary Club;
23    and
24Whereas, Representative Engleman has served her
25    constituency loyally and faithfully since her election to the
26    Indiana House of Representatives: Therefore,
27Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
28General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
29      SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
30    honors Representative Karen Engleman upon her retirement.
31      SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
32    Representatives shall transmit a copy of this resolution to
33    Representative Karen Engleman.
