hcr6013/introduced.txt26.1001.9 101st Legislative Session HCR60132026 South Dakota LegislatureHouse Concurrent Resolution6013Introduced by: Representative Jensen (Phil)1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION encouraging the state's congressional delegation to2meet with the Legislature.3 WHEREAS, the framers of the United States Constitution empowered state legislators to4 be the guardians of liberty against abuses of power by the federal government; and5 WHEREAS, the federal government, through improper and imprudent spending has6 created a crushing national debt that now exceeds the national gross domestic product; and7 WHEREAS, the federal government has overstepped the limits imposed by the United8 States Constitution and has impinged upon the legitimate roles of each state through the9 manipulative process of federal mandates; and10 WHEREAS, the federal government has ceased to operate under a proper interpretation11 of the United States Constitution;12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the House of Representatives of the One Hundred13 First Legislature of the State of South Dakota, the Senate concurring therein, that the14 Legislature encourages each member of the state's congressional delegation to annually meet15 with the Legislature, sitting as a joint committee of the whole, for at least one hour, at a time16 agreed to by the member, the speaker of the House of Representatives, and the president17 pro tempore of the Senate, to discuss the state of the federal government and the work of18 the member on behalf of the state and its residents.Underscores indicate new language.Overstrikes indicate deleted language.
