HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2026-4684, by Representatives Stearns, Richards,
Parshley, Abell, Duerr, Salahuddin, Callan, Ryu, Pollet, Leavitt, Zahn, Fitzgibbon,
Fosse, Hackney, Eslick, and Barnard
WHEREAS, The people of Ireland and the people of Washington state
have formed a mutually prosperous relationship from across the
Atlantic Ocean; and
WHEREAS, The cities of Seattle and Galway have been sister cities
since 1986, engaging in trade, tourism, education exchange programs,
and other meaningful projects, which have improved the health and
well-being of the residents of both great cities for nearly 40 years;
and
WHEREAS, Ireland is known for innovation as a host for technology
companies with deep roots in Washington that continue to make
advancements in global technologies; and
WHEREAS, The people and economies of Washington state and Ireland
thrive due to trade in technology, aerospace, agriculture, and
energy, exceeding a total of one billion dollars annually;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington state House
of Representatives recognizes the strong partnership between the
people of our state and the people of Ireland.
