HOUSE   RESOLUTION     NO.   2026-4684,     by   Representatives   Stearns,   Richards,
 Parshley, Abell, Duerr, Salahuddin, Callan, Ryu, Pollet, Leavitt, Zahn, Fitzgibbon,
 Fosse, Hackney, Eslick, and Barnard
1     WHEREAS, The people of Ireland and the people of Washington state
2 have formed a mutually prosperous relationship from across the
3 Atlantic Ocean; and
4     WHEREAS, The cities of Seattle and Galway have been sister cities
5 since 1986, engaging in trade, tourism, education exchange programs,
6 and other meaningful projects, which have improved the health and
7 well-being of the residents of both great cities for nearly 40 years;
8 and
9     WHEREAS, Ireland is known for innovation as a host for technology
10 companies with deep roots in Washington that continue to make
11 advancements in global technologies; and
12     WHEREAS, The people and economies of Washington state and Ireland
13 thrive due to trade in technology, aerospace, agriculture, and
14 energy, exceeding a total of one billion dollars annually;
15     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington state House
16 of Representatives recognizes the strong partnership between the
17 people of our state and the people of Ireland.
