A HOUSE RESOLUTION congratulating the Whiteland
Community High School girls wrestling team.
Whereas, The Whiteland Community High School girls
wrestling team won the team state championship at the 2026
IHSAA girls wrestling state finals, claiming the school's
first-ever team state championship in any sport;
Whereas, The Whiteland girls wrestling team was ranked
first in the state and had a tournament-best eight qualifiers
participating in the finals;
Whereas, Whiteland finished the state finals with two
individual state champions crowned, six state placers overall
and four wrestlers finishing in the top three, amassing 99.5
points ahead of runner-up Crown Point, third-place finisher
Hobart, and last year's team state champion Columbus East;

Whereas, Sophomore Kaitlynn Fouty won her state title at
100 pounds after winning a 5-3 decision over Center Grove to
cap off an undefeated season, sophomore Mikayla Perkins
claimed hers at 120 pounds with a 13-8 decision over Rossville,
and they became the first athletes from Whiteland in girls'
sports to win a state championship;
Whereas, A runner-up finish by freshman Moriah Morphet
at 115 pounds, sophomore Marli Woods taking third at 130
pounds, and sophomore Kahlyn Fouty at 125 pounds and junior
Marin Wiggington at 155 pounds, both taking sixth place in
their weight classes, propelled the team to its state finals
victory;
Whereas, The individual wins and the overall team victory
highlight the hard work and dedication these female athletes
have invested in their sport; and
Whereas, Girls wrestling is only in its second year as an
IHSAA-sanctioned sport, and the Whiteland team has shown
they are formidable opponents and will remain a dominant
team in the new sport: Therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
congratulates the Whiteland Community High School girls
wrestling team on their state finals victory.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
Representative Michelle Davis for distribution.
