1A HOUSE RESOLUTION congratulating the Whiteland
2    Community High School girls wrestling team.
3Whereas, The Whiteland Community High School girls
4    wrestling team won the team state championship at the 2026
5    IHSAA girls wrestling state finals, claiming the school's
6    first-ever team state championship in any sport;
7Whereas, The Whiteland girls wrestling team was ranked
8    first in the state and had a tournament-best eight qualifiers
9    participating in the finals;
10Whereas, Whiteland finished the state finals with two
11    individual state champions crowned, six state placers overall
12    and four wrestlers finishing in the top three, amassing 99.5
13    points ahead of runner-up Crown Point, third-place finisher
14    Hobart, and last year's team state champion Columbus East;

1Whereas, Sophomore Kaitlynn Fouty won her state title at
2    100 pounds after winning a 5-3 decision over Center Grove to
3    cap off an undefeated season, sophomore Mikayla Perkins
4    claimed hers at 120 pounds with a 13-8 decision over Rossville,
5    and they became the first athletes from Whiteland in girls'
6    sports to win a state championship;
7Whereas, A runner-up finish by freshman Moriah Morphet
8    at 115 pounds, sophomore Marli Woods taking third at 130
9    pounds, and sophomore Kahlyn Fouty at 125 pounds and junior
10    Marin Wiggington at 155 pounds, both taking sixth place in
11    their weight classes, propelled the team to its state finals
12    victory;
13Whereas, The individual wins and the overall team victory
14    highlight the hard work and dedication these female athletes
15    have invested in their sport; and
16Whereas, Girls wrestling is only in its second year as an
17    IHSAA-sanctioned sport, and the Whiteland team has shown
18    they are formidable opponents and will remain a dominant
19    team in the new sport: Therefore,
20Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
21General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
22      SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
23    congratulates the Whiteland Community High School girls
24    wrestling team on their state finals victory.
25      SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
26    Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
27    Representative Michelle Davis for distribution.
