"Tucker" Daniel was born on August 30, 1939, to the late4 Frances Colvin Short and Carl Daniel in Thealka, Kentucky; and5WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel graduated with honors from Meade Memorial High6 School in Williamsport, Kentucky, in 1957; and7WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel started his career with Kentucky West Virginia Gas in8 Prestonsburg, Kentucky, as an entry-level meter reader, and steadily rose in the ranks9 until he was appointed president in 1990, a position he held until his retirement in 1996;10 and11WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel was elected to the office of Johnson County12 judge/executive in 1998, and was reelected three times until he retired from the position13 in 2018; and14WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel took great pride in his position as judge/executive and15 always tried to put his community first, as evidenced by his solving the county's crippling16 deficit and credit crisis in the first two years of his first term; and17WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel's experience in the private sector, networking with state18 officials to pass a pooling ordinance fee, and lobbying state and federal agencies to19 improve the quality of life in Johnson County, showed immediate results; and20WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel also obtained additional funding for volunteer fire21 departments in the county, brought drastic improvements to water quality, updated sewer22 lines, improved county roads, and oversaw the construction and upgrade of the Johnson23 County Judicial Center, Paintsville Post Office, Johnson County Senior Citizens Center,24 and Johnson County Veteran's Referral Center; and25WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel was deeply involved in the community outside of his26 work as judge executive, participating in youth sports in the county, helping with the Boy27 Scouts of America, and serving as the Executive Director of the Paintsville/JohnsonPage 1 of 2XXXX 2/18/2026 9:00 AM JacketedUNOFFICIAL COPY 26 RS BR 19001 County Chamber of Commerce, President of the Kentucky Association of Counties, and a2 member of the Kentucky mines and minerals board; and3WHEREAS, in honor of his service as judge/executive, Tucker Daniel was4 distinguished as a member of the Kentucky GOP Hall of Fame in 2004; and5WHEREAS, at his death in 2019, Tucker Daniel was survived by his beloved wife6 Page Brickley; his sons Roger D. and Scott Daniel; his grandchildren John Thomas, Scott7 Triplett, Kash, Julia Page, and Samuel Roger Daniel; his siblings Jimmy Ray Short,8 Debbie Kay Wheeler, Joan Cox, and Beverly Davis; and many other friends and family9 members who cherished him deeply; and10WHEREAS, Tucker Daniel was loved and will be missed by the community of11 Johnson County, and his memory and many contributions to the county are worthy of12 tangible recognition;13NOW, THEREFORE,14 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:15Section 1.
