PRESIDENT:I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:1 A SENATE RESOLUTION recognizing the Town of2 Chesterton for its renovated town hall and fire station.3 Whereas, The recently renovated Chesterton town hall and4 fire station opened on Monday, January 26, 2026;5 Whereas, The seat of the Town of Chesterton municipal6 government has been expanded and modernized to provide a7 significantly more comfortable fire station, ensuring that8 firefighters are able to do their job safely and effectively;9 Whereas, This investment will allow the fire department to10 continue their training and aid the expansion of training11 opportunities for the community, including CPR and first-aid;12 Whereas, This project centers on serving the community for13 years, with a significant increase of the room capacity from 8014 to 112;15 Whereas, This project provides a more efficient and16 accommodating work space for the members who work there to17 serve the community better;2026 DR 3856/DI ol21 Whereas, This improvement includes a new training space,2 an upgraded alert system, leadership offices, new restrooms, a3 well equipped laundry space, a remodeled kitchen, a new gym4 space, and other improved operational areas;5 Whereas, The fourteen-month-long project shows the6 collective effort of members of the Town Council, coming7 together for a purposeful investment to serve the future needs8 of the community; and9 Whereas, This improvement is a great step for the town,10 enhancing accessibility, safety, and community connection and11 reflecting what the town is and where it is headed: Therefore,12Be it resolved by the Senate of the13General Assembly of the State of Indiana:14 SECTION 1. That the Indiana State Senate recognizes the15 Town of Chesterton for its renovated town hall and fire station.16 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed17 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Town of Chesterton.2026 DR 3856/DI ol
