     MR. PRESIDENT:
     I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1    A SENATE RESOLUTION recognizing the Town of
2 Chesterton for its renovated town hall and fire station.
3      Whereas, The recently renovated Chesterton town hall and
4 fire station opened on Monday, January 26, 2026;
5      Whereas, The seat of the Town of Chesterton municipal
6 government has been expanded and modernized to provide a
7 significantly more comfortable fire station, ensuring that
8 firefighters are able to do their job safely and effectively;
9     Whereas, This investment will allow the fire department to
10 continue their training and aid the expansion of training
11 opportunities for the community, including CPR and first-aid;
12     Whereas, This project centers on serving the community for
13 years, with a significant increase of the room capacity from 80
14 to 112;
15     Whereas, This project provides a more efficient and
16 accommodating work space for the members who work there to
17 serve the community better;

1     Whereas, This improvement includes a new training space,
2 an upgraded alert system, leadership offices, new restrooms, a
3 well equipped laundry space, a remodeled kitchen, a new gym
4 space, and other improved operational areas;
5      Whereas, The fourteen-month-long project shows the
6 collective effort of members of the Town Council, coming
7 together for a purposeful investment to serve the future needs
8 of the community; and
9      Whereas, This improvement is a great step for the town,
10 enhancing accessibility, safety, and community connection and
11 reflecting what the town is and where it is headed: Therefore,
12Be it resolved by the Senate of the
13General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
14      SECTION 1. That the Indiana State Senate recognizes the
15 Town of Chesterton for its renovated town hall and fire station.
16      SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
17 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Town of Chesterton.
