hr4709/introduced.txtHOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2026-4709, by Representatives Burnett, Ley, Walsh,Schmick, Abell, Dye, Pollet, Ybarra, Connors, Griffey, Barnard, Steele, and Stuebe1 WHEREAS, The people of Washington State share a rich cultural2 history and a strong bond with our global neighbors in the State of3 Israel and the more than 75,000 Israeli Americans living and working4 in Washington State; and5 WHEREAS, the Government of the State of Israel demonstrated its6 commitment to enhancing its relationship with the people of7 Washington State by establishing a Consulate General of Israel to the8 Pacific Northwest, based in San Francisco, to strengthen bilateral9 ties with Alaska, Northern California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and10 Washington; and11 WHEREAS, The Consulate General of Israel provides consular12 services to Israeli Americans and visitors to the Pacific Northwest13 and works to foster fruitful cultural exchanges and promote mutual14 economic development opportunities and innovation, particularly in15 areas of technology, climate action, agriculture, biotechnology, and16 cybersecurity; and17 WHEREAS, Ambassador Marco Sermoneta has served as Consul General18 of Israel to the Pacific Northwest since 2022, and has visited19 Washington State in his official capacity on six occasions, meeting20 with political leaders, business leaders, members of the Jewish21 community, and Israeli Americans residing in Washington State; andp. 1 HR 47091 WHEREAS, The continuous involvement between the people of2 Washington State and the State of Israel promotes shared values and3 intercultural connections that benefit the residents of both;4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives5 express appreciation for the work of the Consul General of Israel to6 the Pacific Northwest, which mutually benefits the people of7 Washington State and the State of Israel.--- END ---p. 2 HR 4709
