1A JOINT RESOLUTION designating the Don McKenzie Memorial Bridge in
2 Morgan County.
3WHEREAS, Donald Henry "Don" McKenzie was born in Licking River, Kentucky,
4 the son of Victor Clay and Florence Wells McKenzie; and
5WHEREAS, Don McKenzie married the love, of his life Wanetta Perry McKenzie,
6 on November 21, 1958, and they were blessed with three children, Terrie, Donna, and
7 Shawn; and
8WHEREAS, in 1958, Don McKenzie founded McKenzie's Pool and Lunchroom in
9 Morgan County, Kentucky, and operated the lunchroom for the rest of his life; and
10WHEREAS, Don McKenzie also volunteered with the local Little League and
11 football programs in Morgan County; and
12WHEREAS, Don Mckenzie's commitment to the community of Morgan County
13 was recognized when he and his twin brother, Ronald, were chosen as Morgan County's
14 Outstanding Citizens of the Year in 1992; and
15WHEREAS, Don McKenzie left this earth to meet his Heavenly Father on April 14,
16 2025, where he joined his loving wife, his parents and his siblings; and
17WHEREAS, Don McKenzie is survived by his children, two grandchildren, one
18 great-granddaughter, and many other family members and friends who miss him dearly;
19 and
20WHEREAS, for his service and kindness to the community, Don McKenzie is
21 worthy of honor and tangible public recognition in Morgan County;
22NOW, THEREFORE,
23 Be it resolved by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
24Section 1.      The Transportation Cabinet shall designate the bridge located at
25 Morgan County High School over Caney Creek as the "Don McKenzie Memorial
26 Bridge" (BridgeID 088C00045N) and shall, within 30 days of the effective date of this
27 Resolution, erect appropriate signage denoting this designation.
