5 ADRIAN GRIGGS, SR.

7WHEREAS, it is with profound sorrow that we mourn the
8 death, yet celebrate the life, of Glenn Adrian Griggs, Sr.,
9 whose passing on February 8, 2026, at the age of 71 has left
10 a void in the lives of his loving family, many friends, and
11 the community in which he was highly regarded; and
12WHEREAS, Glenn was a true servant of God, his family,
13 and the West End, Woodland Park, and Titusville communities;
14 he was selfless and lived his life with an open heart; he
15 loved deeply, gave freely, and never hesitated to show up
16 for others, especially young people; and
17WHEREAS, Glenn attended Samuel Ullman High School and
18 graduated from West End High School in 1972 before
19 matriculating to Miles College; he loved Alabama State
20 University, where he was a Mighty Marching Hornet and played
21 the saxophone as an undergraduate; he carried this love of
22 music with him throughout his life, and his grandchildren
23 would occasionally wake to the sound of him playing or hear
24 his music fill the house throughout the day; and
25WHEREAS, Glenn loved to travel and enjoyed sharing
26 vacations across the United States with his family and other
27 youth; his favorite destinations included Orlando, Florida,
28 and trips to New Jersey to visit his beloved daughter,

29 Naomi; and
30WHEREAS, Glenn was a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma
31 Fraternity, Incorporated, and his life embodied the
32 Fraternity's objectives of "Culture For Service and Service
33 For Humanity," furthering the goals of brotherhood,
34 scholarship, and service; and
35WHEREAS, he had an infectious smile and gift for
36 connecting with people; he truly never met a stranger;
37 whether through his work as an independent contractor, his
38 time coaching PAT Baseball, or simply being a great
39 neighbor, he found ways to serve and uplift those around
40 him; and
41WHEREAS, Glenn was passionate about family,
42 education, and mental health advocacy; he believed in
43 meeting people where they were and helping them move
44 forward; and
45WHEREAS, above all things, family meant everything to
46 Glenn Griggs; he was blessed to share 51 beautiful years of
47 marriage with his wife, Jonie, whom he loved and cherished;
48 he was the proud father of four, Glenn II, Naomi, Asa, and
49 Malcolm, but his impact reached far beyond his own children;
50 to many, he was a dad, a mentor, a coach, a foster parent,
51 and a steady presence who always took the time to listen,
52 encourage, and guide; and
53WHEREAS, to his grandchildren he was courageous,
54 kind, lovable, giving, artistic, and talented; to his family
55 and community, he was a source of wisdom, laughter, and
56 unconditional love; Glenn Adrian Griggs, Sr. leaves behind a

57 legacy of faith, service, and love that will continue to
58 live on through every life he touched; now therefore,
59BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
60 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That the death of Glenn Adrian
61 Griggs, Sr. is recorded with deep sadness, and this
62 resolution is offered in tribute to his life and with
63 heartfelt sympathy to his family and loved ones, whose grief
64 is shared by many.
