4 HR____ CELEBRATING MRS. KATHLEEN PEEVY UPON THE OCCASION OF
5 HER 100TH BIRTHDAY.

7WHEREAS, highest commendations and congratulations
8 are offered to Mrs. Kathleen Peevy of Brewton, Alabama, on
9 the momentous occasion of her 100th Birthday; and
10WHEREAS, Kathleen Peevy was born on March 15, 1926,
11 to Martin and Julia Still of Brewton; she graduated from
12 W.S. Neal High School in 1944 and then attended business
13 school in Montgomery; and
14WHEREAS, following her graduation from business
15 school, Kathleen started working for Bell South as a
16 telephone operator; this career took her to Portland,
17 Oregon; Milton, Florida; and Pensacola, Florida; during her
18 time in Milton, she went to school to learn to become a test
19 desk man for Bell South; this was unique for her as she was
20 the first female test desk man in northwest Florida; and
21WHEREAS, over the years, Kathleen has been involved
22 in Ladies' Aid with the Methodist Church, and The Telephone
23 Employees Activities Association, where she enjoyed playing
24 golf, sewing, cooking, and gardening; a few years ago,
25 Kathleen was honored to serve as Grand Marshal of the W.S.
26 Neal High School Homecoming Parade; and
27WHEREAS, among her accomplishments, she has enjoyed
28 being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and

29 even great-great-grandmother; Kathleen married James Warren
30 Rowell on January 22, 1966, in Brewton; they had one
31 daughter and were married for 26 years before Mr. Rowell
32 passed away; on August 9, 1995, Kathleen married Jack James
33 Peevy in Point Washington, Florida; they were married for 18
34 years before Mr. Peevy passed away; he had two children that
35 Kathleen proudly claims as her own; and
36WHEREAS, Kathleen's family includes her children,
37 Margaret Rowell Bragg (Robert), Waylon Peevy (deceased and
38 survived by his wife, Ann), and Amanda Roberson Kelly (Pat);
39 grandchildren, Katie Bragg Madril (David), Steven Bragg,
40 Jason Peevy (Heather), Angela Peevy Esponge (Greg), Emily
41 Peevy Waller (Aaron), Rachel Roberson Wiggins (Phillip), and
42 Joshua Roberson; 10 great-grandchildren; and four
43 great-great-grandchildren; and
44WHEREAS, Kathleen is a longtime member of First
45 Methodist Church in Brewton; her family is celebrating her
46 birthday on March 14, 2026, at the church fellowship hall;
47 and
48WHEREAS, a 100th Birthday is a significant milestone
49 that represents 10 decades of wisdom earned and memories
50 gained, and it is cause for great rejoicing; now therefore,
51BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
52 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That Mrs. Kathleen Peevy is
53 deserving of special honor and recognition, and we are
54 pleased to offer this resolution to her as evidence of our
55 high regard for her many life accomplishments, along with
56 sincere wishes for more happy and healthy times to come.
