hr419/enrolled.txtCommending the Oakton High School girls' wrestling team.Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 13, 2026WHEREAS, the Oakton High School girls' wrestling team of Fairfax County achieved the highest team score at the Virginia High School League girls' wrestling state championship, held on February 24–25, 2026, at the Henrico Sports and Events Center; andWHEREAS, 2026 was the first time the Oakton Cougars earned the highest team score at a Virginia High School League girls' wrestling state championship; andWHEREAS, the Oakton Cougars demonstrated their exceptional depth and competitiveness by sending seven qualifiers and one alternate to the state tournament; andWHEREAS, Oakton High School was represented by state qualifiers Victoria Thomas, Allison Hegg, Katherine Crockett, Eleanor Sanderson, Kennedy Baick, Anne Mitchell, and Katherine Donohue, along with alternate, Aarushi Kochar; andWHEREAS, the eight Oakton High School wrestlers at the state tournament represented the highest number of state qualifiers of the 80 schools competing in the tournament; andWHEREAS, the Oakton Cougars were led by Katherine Crockett, Anne Mitchell, and Katherine Donohue as team captains; andWHEREAS, Allison Hegg was the first-ever girls' wrestling state champion from the Oakton High School girls' wrestling program, winning in the 126-pound weight class; andWHEREAS, Oakton High School wrestler Katherine Crockett was the state runner-up in the 132-pound weight class; andWHEREAS, Oakton High School wrestler Katherine Donohue was the state runner-up in the 165-pound weight class; andWHEREAS, Kennedy Baick and Anne Mitchell also advanced in the tournament, winning hard-fought matches and contributing to the Oakton Cougars' overall team score; andWHEREAS, the Oakton Cougars' successful season is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of friends, family members, and the entire Oakton High School community; now, therefore, be itRESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Oakton High School girls' wrestling team hereby be commended for achieving the highest team score at the Virginia High School League girls' wrestling state championship in 2026; and, be itRESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Oakton High School girls' wrestling team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievements and best wishes for the program's continued success.
