sr8701/introduced.txtSENATE RESOLUTION8701By Senator Riccelli1 WHEREAS, The 2026 Regular Session of the Sixty-ninth Legislature2 is drawing to a close; and3 WHEREAS, It is necessary to provide for the completion of the4 work of the Senate after its adjournment and during the interim5 period between the close of the 2026 Regular Session of the Sixty-6 ninth Legislature and the convening of the next regular session;7 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Senate Facilities and8 Operations Committee shall have full authority and direction over the9 authorization and execution of any contracts or subcontracts that10 necessitate the expenditure of Senate appropriations and may further11 delegate such authority and direction to the Secretary of the Senate12 for contracts that are routine or expected, subject to all applicable13 budget controls and limitations; and14 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the Senate may, as15 she deems appropriate, authorize travel for which members and staff16 may receive their actual necessary expenses, and such per diem as may17 be authorized by law, subject to all applicable budget controls and18 limitations, to be paid upon receipt of their vouchers out of funds19 appropriated for legislative expenses; and20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the Senate be, and21 hereby is, authorized to retain such employees as she may deem22 necessary and that said employees be allowed such rate of pay,p. 1 87011 subject to all applicable budget controls and limitations, as2 the Secretary of the Senate shall deem proper; and3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the Senate be,4 and hereby is, authorized and directed to make out and execute5 the necessary vouchers upon which warrants for legislative6 expenses and expenditures shall be drawn from funds provided7 therefor; and8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the Senate, in9 consultation with the Chair and Ranking Member of the Facilities10 and Operations Committee, be, and hereby is, authorized to11 approve written requests by standing committees to meet during12 the interim period; and13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the Senate be,14 and hereby is, authorized and directed to have printed a copy of15 the Senate Journals of the 2026 Regular Session of the Sixty-16 ninth Legislature; and17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Majority Leader is18 authorized to create special committees as may be necessary to19 carry out the functions of the Senate in an orderly manner and20 appoint members thereto with the approval of the Facilities and21 Operations Committee; and22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the use of Senate facilities is23 permitted upon such terms as the Secretary of the Senate shall24 deem proper.25 I, Sarah Bannister, Secretary of the Senate,26 do hereby certify that this is a true and27 correct copy of Senate Resolution 8701,28 adopted by the Senate29 March 12, 202630 SARAH BANNISTER31 Secretary of the Senatep. 2 8701
