A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
STATING FINDINGS OF THE LEGISLATURE, DECLARING THAT THE COMMUNITY SCHOOL
STRATEGY IS A PROVEN, LOCALLY DRIVEN APPROACH TO STUDENT SUCCESS AND
STRONGER COMMUNITIES, AND ENCOURAGING CONTINUED COLLABORATION AMONG
SCHOOLS, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS TO EXPAND AND SUSTAIN COMMU-
NITY SCHOOL EFFORTS THROUGHOUT THE STATE IN WAYS THAT REFLECT THE VALUES
OF THE STATE AND LOCAL LEADERSHIP.
Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:
WHEREAS, the Idaho Coalition for Community Schools is a cross-sec-
tor network of educators, nonprofits, and community leaders committed to
strengthening and expanding community schools in Idaho, with United Way of
Treasure Valley providing backbone support and coordination; and
WHEREAS, the community school strategy transforms schools into neigh-
borhood hubs, partnering with families and community members to provide in-
tegrated health and social services and enhanced learning opportunities. It
reduces barriers to learning through four key pillars: integrated student
supports, expanded learning, family engagement, and collaborative leader-
ship; and
WHEREAS, Idaho's strength and long-term prosperity depend on the suc-
cess of its children and the vitality of its families and communities; and
WHEREAS, when students are healthy, supported, and engaged, they are
better prepared to learn, graduate, and contribute to Idaho's workforce and
civic life; and
WHEREAS, schools serve as trusted centers of community life and are
uniquely positioned to partner with families, nonprofits, businesses, faith
communities, and local organizations to help remove barriers to learning;
and
WHEREAS, the community school strategy is a voluntary, locally driven
approach that empowers schools to design partnerships that reflect the
unique needs and values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, for more than ten years, Idaho educators, families, and commu-
nity partners have advanced this work across the state; and
WHEREAS, today, 65 schools across 25 districts, representing every
Idaho education region, are engaged in community school efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the members of the Second Regular Ses-
sion of the Sixty-eighth Idaho Legislature, the Senate and the House of Rep-
resentatives concurring therein, that the Legislature recognizes the commu-
nity school strategy as a proven, community-based framework for strengthen-
ing student success and supporting families across Idaho.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature encourages continued col-
laboration among schools, families, and community partners to expand and
sustain community school efforts throughout the state in ways that reflect
the values of the state and local leadership.
