     BUILDING CODES: Provides relative to the issuance of permits for construction
 1  AN ACT
 2   To enact R.S. 40:1730.23(K)(3), relative to permits for construction; to require a
 3  municipality or parish issuing a permit for construction to verify the contractor's
 4  license number; and to provide for related matters.
 5   Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
 6  Section 1. R.S. 40:1730.23(K)(3) is hereby enacted to read as follows:
 7  §1730.23. Enforcement of building codes by municipalities and parishes
 8  *       *  *
 9  K. Any municipality or parish which issues a permit for construction
10  pursuant to this Part shall do all of the following:

12  (3) Verify the contractor's license number and furnish the Louisiana State
13  Licensing Board for Contractors with a copy of the permit and the contractor's name
14  and license number.

Present law requires a municipality or parish issuing permits for construction to perform the
following acts:
(1)    Permit and inspect all buildings, other than one- and two-family dwellings, for roof
       construction and reroofing in compliance with the International Building Code
       Chapter 15 requirements as adopted and promulgated by the Louisiana State
       Uniform Construction Code Council.
(2)    Permit and inspect one- and two-family dwellings for roof construction and reroofing
       in compliance with the International Residential Code Chapter 8 and 9 requirements
       as adopted and promulgated by the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code
       Council.
Proposed law adds the requirement that a municipality or parish shall verify the contractor's
license number and furnish the La. State Licensing Bd. for Contractors with a copy of the
permit and the contractor's name and license number.
