A RESOLUTION
To commend Rosa Mae Briley Pitre on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday.
WHEREAS, it is most fitting to recognize Rosa Pitre for her incredible longevity and
to commend her on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday; and
WHEREAS, Rosa was born on June 9, 1926, in Grand Prairie, Louisiana, to Lee and
Clemence Briley; her first husband, Calvin Fontenot, passed away at an early age, and she
later married the late Harry Pitre; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Pitre is the mother of five children: David Paul Fontenot, Arlene
Pitre Coreil, Janice Pitre Colligan, Peggy Pitre Tate, and John Pitre; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Pitre was a devoted housewife and worked as a seamstress,
telephone operator, and department manager for West Bros.; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Pitre is a devout Catholic who prays the Rosary on a daily basis and
receives Holy Communion every week; she is a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Church
in Ville Platte, Louisiana, and currently resides at the Village de Memoire in Ville Platte;
and
WHEREAS, Rosa Mae Briley Pitre is an inspiring woman who is most deserving of
the highest recognition for reaching this incredible milestone in life.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Rosa Mae Briley Pitre on the occasion of
her one hundredth birthday and does hereby extend sincere wishes that she remain
prosperous as she begins a new chapter of life as a member of the exclusive club of
Louisiana's centenarians.
