hb1080/chaptered.txtENROLLED2026 Regular SessionACT No. 700HOUSE BILL NO. 1080BY REPRESENTATIVE PHELPS1AN ACT2 To enact R.S. 33:4754.1, relative to the city of Shreveport; to provide relative to condemned3commercial property within the city; to provide relative to the demolition of such4property; to authorize the city to file suit to compel the owner to demolish the5property; to provide relative to the recoupment of certain costs; and to provide for6related matters.7Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published8as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of9Louisiana.10 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:11Section 1. R.S. 33:4754.1 is hereby enacted to read as follows:12§4754.1. Demolition of condemned commercial property; suit; city of Shreveport13Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the city of14Shreveport may file a suit against the owner of a condemned commercial property15to compel the property owner to demolish the condemned property. The suit shall16be filed only after the property owner has been given an opportunity to demolish the17condemned property and to pay any liens that have been placed on the property. The18time period provided to the owner to demolish the property and to pay any liens19placed on the property shall be as provided by ordinance of the governing authority20of the city.
