4 HR____ CELEBRATING THE 14TH ANNIVERSARY OF DR. MICHAEL
5 OLIVER AT TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH.

7WHEREAS, it is with great respect and sincere
8 admiration that we commend Dr. Michael Oliver for 14
9 successful years of service as senior pastor of Trinity
10 Baptist Church in Madison, Alabama, contributing
11 significantly to the church's continued growth and lasting
12 impact in the community; and
13WHEREAS, a native of Hokes Bluff, Dr. Oliver has
14 served as senior pastor of the Trinity congregation since
15 2012; prior to Trinity, he served for 15 years as the senior
16 pastor of First Baptist Church of Williams in Jacksonville,
17 Alabama; he has also served churches in Tennessee and
18 Kentucky; and
19WHEREAS, Dr. Oliver was first licensed to preach in
20 June 1987 and was ordained in September 1990; he earned his
21 Doctor of Ministry from Mercer University's McAfee School of
22 Theology, Master's degrees from Jacksonville State
23 University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in
24 Louisville, and a Bachelor's degree from Jacksonville State
25 University; and
26WHEREAS, he has served as a summer missionary in both
27 Alaska and Israel, participated in a pilgrimage to Israel
28 with 17 other ministers from various denominations, and was

29 a member of a team studying the state of the church in Cuba;
30 in addition, Dr. Oliver led significant disaster relief
31 efforts in building homes for displaced families after the
32 2011 tornadoes; and
33WHEREAS, Dr. Oliver's other work includes serving as
34 a two-term moderator of the Alabama Cooperative Baptist
35 Fellowship, a convener for Peer Ministry Groups, the Lilly
36 Endowment, Inc., and a chaperone for Passport Kids Summer
37 Camps for more than 15 years; and
38WHEREAS, he enjoys reading biographies and camping in
39 the Smoky Mountains with his wife, Mary, and their four
40 sons; Dr. Oliver has also been a volunteer coach for youth
41 and junior high school basketball for many years; and
42WHEREAS, Dr. Oliver's continued goals for ministry at
43 Trinity include focusing on local and international
44 missions, disaster relief work, and congregational
45 visioning; now therefore,
46BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
47 LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, That we are proud to celebrate this
48 anniversary with Dr. Michael Oliver, and we are grateful for
49 his years of service rooted in meaningful worship and
50 strengthening community relationships for all age groups;
51 this resolution is presented to him as a record of the high
52 esteem in which he is held, along with best wishes for
53 continued growth and success for the Trinity Baptist Church
54 congregation.
