1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to game and fish; allowing the use of motorized waterfowl boats in wildlife
1.3management areas under certain conditions; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024,
1.4section 97A.133, by adding a subdivision.
1.5      BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 97A.133, is amended by adding a subdivision
1.7      to read:
1.8Subd. 3a. Motorized waterfowl boats within wildlife management areas. A person
1.9      may use a motorized waterfowl boat during the waterfowl-hunting season in a wildlife
1.10     management area if the person is:
1.11(1) age 65 and over;
1.12(2) in compliance with section 97B.805; and
1.13(3) in a wildlife management area located south of U.S. Highway 10 beginning at the
1.14     west boundary of the state, thence along U.S. Highway 10 to the east boundary of the state.
1.15Sec. 2. MOTORIZED WATERFOWL BOAT USE IN FEDERAL WATERFOWL
1.16     PRODUCTION AREAS.
1.17The commissioner of natural resources must notify the United States Fish and Wildlife
1.18     Service of the ability to use a motorized waterfowl boat in a wildlife management area under
1.19     Minnesota Statutes, section 97A.133, subdivision 3a, and request that federal regulations
1.20     for waterfowl production areas be modified to allow for similar use of motorized waterfowl
1.21     boats.
