4 SJR___ COMMENDING SENATOR JOHN W. WILLIAMS ON HIS
5 PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN THE ALABAMA LEGISLATURE.

7WHEREAS, it is with the highest admiration and
8 deepest respect that we commend the Honorable John W. "Jack"
9 Williams, currently serving his second term as a Republican
10 member of the Alabama Senate, following one term in the
11 House of Representatives, for his many accomplishments and
12 tireless devotion to our state, particularly in matters
13 involving the rights of Alabama's farmers, small business
14 owners, and rural communities; and
15WHEREAS, Senator Jack Williams has represented the
16 34th District since 2018; as a member of the Alabama House
17 of Representatives, he previously served the 102nd District
18 from 2014 to 2018; and
19WHEREAS, born in Mobile County in 1955 and a lifelong
20 resident of Wilmer, Alabama, Senator Williams is a
21 fourth-generation farmer and has lived his entire life in
22 District 34; he graduated from Mary G. Montgomery High
23 School and has been married to his loving wife, Bobbie, for
24 50 years; they are members of Wilmer Baptist Church and
25 actively support 4-H; and
26WHEREAS, together, Senator and Mrs. Williams built J
27 Bar W Farm, a family-run operation focused on cattle,
28 timber, and hay production; in 1986, they expanded into the

29 nursery business, founding Twin Oaks Nursery in Wilmer; the
30 success of that company led to their acquisition of Tom Dodd
31 Nurseries in Semmes, growing the business into one of the
32 largest nursery operations of its kind in the country;
33 today, their son, John, owns and manages the nursery, while
34 their grandson, Mica, manages daily operations at the cattle
35 farm; and
36WHEREAS, throughout his service in the Alabama
37 Legislature, Senator Williams has been a consistent voice
38 for conservative values and currently serves as the Vice
39 Chair of the Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry
40 Committee, as well as the Banking and Insurance Committee;
41 he has also served as Chair of the Mobile County Legislation
42 Committee, in addition to serving on committees supporting
43 Children and Youth Health, Confirmations, Healthcare,
44 Transportation and Energy, and the Permanent Legislative
45 Committee on Reapportionment; and
46WHEREAS, Senator Williams spearheaded efforts to ban
47 lab-grown meat in Alabama, cut taxes on agricultural
48 fencing, and legalize baiting for deer and feral pig
49 hunting; time and again, he has proven to be a trusted
50 friend to cattlemen, foresters, producers, and small
51 business owners across Alabama; and
52WHEREAS, most recently, Senator Williams sponsored
53 and passed legislation that brings relief to truck drivers
54 across the state; the bill restricts state law enforcement
55 from detaining more than five trucks on the roadside at one
56 time and allows drivers to appeal an overweight citation

57 should they be found to be within the legal limit at a fixed
58 body scale; and
59WHEREAS, Senator Williams is widely respected for his
60 support of hardworking farm families and small business
61 owners, protection of our state's natural resources, and
62 conservative approach toward government regulations; now
63 therefore,
64BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA, BOTH
65 HOUSES THEREOF CONCURRING, That the Honorable John W. "Jack"
66 Williams is highly honored and commended for his many
67 contributions to the people of Alabama, and we express
68 profound gratitude for his dedicated service as a mentor,
69 role model, and advocate for future leaders, inspiring
70 others through his professionalism, compassion, and tireless
71 work ethic.
72BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be
73 entered into the official record as a lasting tribute to
74 Senator Jack Williams's exemplary leadership and enduring
75 impact on the residents of Alabama.
