HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE THE BARTON HIGH SCHOOL BEARS BOYS'
BASKETBALL TEAM AS THE 2026 CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONS.
Subtitle
TO RECOGNIZE THE BARTON HIGH SCHOOL
BEARS BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM AS THE 2026
CLASS 2A STATE CHAMPIONS.
WHEREAS, the Barton High School Bears boys' basketball team bested the
Mount Vernon-Enola Warhawks to take home the Class 2A state basketball
championship at Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on March 12, 2026,
with a score of eighty-nine to forty-four (89-44); and
WHEREAS, the Bears shot over seventy percent (70%) from the field
during the second half of the game, and, with this win, the Bears secured the
school's first state basketball championship; and
WHEREAS, the Bears ended the season with an overall record of thirty-
four (34) wins and five (5) losses; and
WHEREAS, the Bears' team members are Christian Williams, Anderson
Smith, Quinteryon Wilson, Jordan Humphrey, Qulan Green, Keshawn Ross, Dominic
Hill, Quinteruin Davis, Cameron Otey, Drayden Hardison, Daylan Magsby, and
Ronnell Williams; and
WHEREAS, Bears' team member Quinteryon Wilson was the leading scorer
for the team with twenty-five (25) points; and

WHEREAS, Bears' team member Christian Williams was named the Class 2A
state championship game Most Valuable Player for scoring twenty-two (22)
points and providing three (3) assists; and
WHEREAS, the Bears were lead by Head Coach Chris Williams and assistant
coaches Martin Rawls and Demetris Johnson; and
WHEREAS, also integral to the Bears' success were managers Justin Ward,
Latravien Franklin, and Gilberto Zuniga, as well as the community support
provided to the team, including from Superintendent Dr. Bruce Guthrie and
Principal Megan Guthrie; and
WHEREAS, Head Coach Chris Williams said of the team's victory, "These
guys showed that they're the best team in 2A tonight by far. I'm just super
proud, man",
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:
THAT the House of Representatives recognize the Barton High School
Bears boys' basketball team for their leadership, discipline, teamwork, and
sportsmanship and for winning the 2026 Class 2A state championship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be
presented to Head Coach Chris Williams by the Chief Clerk of the House of
Representatives.
