HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND CELEBRATE NUCOR DAY AT THE STATE
CAPITOL ON APRIL 15, 2026.
Subtitle
TO RECOGNIZE AND CELEBRATE NUCOR DAY AT
THE STATE CAPITOL ON APRIL 15, 2026.
WHEREAS, Nucor Corporation is the largest steel and steel products
producer in the United States and the global leader in steelmaking
sustainability; and
WHEREAS, Nucor is the largest recycler of any type of material in North
America; and
WHEREAS, Nucor recycles approximately twenty million (20,000,000) tons
of ferrous scrap metal annually to produce new steel that is one hundred
percent (100%) recyclable; and
WHEREAS, by recycling scrap to make new steel, Nucor’s greenhouse gas
intensity is less than one-fourth (1/4) of the global steelmaking average and
one-fifth (1/5) of the intensity of a traditional blast furnace producer; and
WHEREAS, Nucor has been an important part of Arkansas’s economy since
1987 with the construction of its first steel mill in the state; and
WHEREAS, Nucor has steadily grown and invested in Arkansas, currently
operating five (5) facilities in the state:

(1) Nucor-Yamato in Mississippi County;
(2) Nucor Steel Arkansas in Mississippi County;
(3) Nucor Coatings Corporation in Mississippi County;
(4) Nucor Skyline Armorel in Mississippi County; and
(5) Centria in Grant County; and
WHEREAS, Nucor employs more than thirty-two thousand (32,000)
employees, known as teammates, working safely at over three hundred (300)
operating facilities in North America, with approximately two thousand seven
hundred seventy-two (2,772) teammates throughout Arkansas; and
WHEREAS, in thirty-nine (39) years of operations in Arkansas, Nucor has
had a practice of never laying off a single teammate at its steel mills and
Nucor teammates all share in the success of the company; and
WHEREAS, the median pay for Nucor’s production teammates over the last
three (3) years has averaged more than one hundred thousand dollars
($100,000) per year; and
WHEREAS, to reinforce its culture, the majority of Nucor’s teammates
below the officer level are treated as if they are owners of the company,
historically receiving ten percent (10%) of Nucor’s earnings in a profit-
sharing plan in addition to their salary; and
WHEREAS, Nucor has invested more than one billion dollars
($1,000,000,000) in its Arkansas steel mills in the last five (5) years to
modernize and upgrade the capabilities of the facilities; and
WHEREAS, the western hemisphere’s largest beams are produced at Nucor-
Yamato Steel and Arkansas-made steel can be found in iconic American
structures such as the One World Trade Center, the world-renowned Donald W.
Reynolds Razorback Stadium, and the home of the Dallas Cowboys, AT&T Stadium;
and
WHEREAS, Nucor is committed to education in Arkansas, offering all
Nucor teammates and their dependents a scholarship in the amount of four

thousand dollars ($4,000) per year for college or vocational school, which
nationwide has amounted to more than one hundred fifteen million dollars
($115,000,000) awarded to nearly twenty-five thousand (25,000) children since
the program’s inception in 1974, with nearly twelve million dollars
($12,000,000) awarded in Arkansas,
NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ARKANSAS:
THAT the House of Representatives recognize and celebrate Nucor Day at
the State Capitol Building on April 15, 2026.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT upon adoption, a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Chief Executive Officer of Nucor Corporation by the Chief
Clerk of the House of Representatives.
