Mumper. 1WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly 2of Ohio extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of 3Larry A. Mumper on the sorrowful occasion of his death; and 4WHEREAS, Larry Mumper left an indelible impression on the people 5whose lives he touched, and he will be remembered as a spirited 6individual who contributed immeasurably to the world around him. 7Widely renowned for his career in public office, he was a member of 8the Marion City Council for three years, holding the post of president 9pro tempore, and a commissioner for Marion County for three years 10before being elected to the Ohio Senate to represent the 26th District 11from 1997 through 2008, where he served as chair of the agriculture 12committee and vice chair of the education committee. Indeed, he will 13be remembered for his generosity, talents, and seemingly inexhaustible 14energy; and 15WHEREAS, Larry Mumper’s regard for improving the quality of life 16in our society was clearly evident in his personal sacrifices of time 17and effort to family, friends, and community. Among his endeavors, he 18was a retired teacher and basketball and cross country coach, and he 19was active with numerous organization, including the Elgin Retired 20Teachers, Ohio, and National education associations, the Free and 21Accepted Masons, the National Rifle Association, the Ohio Farm Bureau, 22Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 32, Moose Lodge 2866, 23S. R. No. 329 Page 2As Adopted by the SenateVeterans of Foreign Wars Post 7201, the Marion Cemetery Board, the 24Marion County Republican Club, YMCA, the Marion Evening Lions Club, 25and the US Open Commission. Giving generously of his energy and 26abilities in all of his pursuits, he displayed exceptional concern and 27insight, and his absence will be keenly felt; and 28WHEREAS, A loving husband to his wife, Karyle, a devoted father to 29his three children, Julie, Gregg, and the late Bradley, and a doting 30grandfather to his four grandchildren, Wells, Carter, Sam, and Kacey, 31Larry Mumper always used his talents to the benefit of others, and the 32warmth and understanding he readily extended to those around him will 33stand as a testament to his personal character. Although the void his 34death has created can never be filled, the legacy of care and 35commitment he established will surely live on; therefore be it 36RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General 37Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to the 38memory of a truly honorable man, Larry A. Mumper; and be it further 39RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly 40authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of Larry A. 41Mumper. 42
